Remittances up 21.3% in September, highest y-o-y growth in 5 years

Remittances to Mexico were up 21.3% in September compared to the same month in 2010, for the highest year-on-year growth in the past five years, according to figures from central bank Banxico.

Remittances in September came in at US$2.1bn, 7.6% higher than analysts' forecasts.

In January- September, remittances to Mexico amounted to US$17.3bn, up 6.6% compared to the same period in 2010.
