EPM calls for 15km transmission line bids

Bidding rules are available though October 18 from Colombia's Medellin based utility EPM for the construction of a 15km, 44kV transmission line to connect its 11.7MW La Vuelta and 19.8MW La Herradura hydroelectric plants to the Chorodo substation.

Bids should be presented by November 7, EPM engineer Cesar Vasquez told BNamericas, adding that the company expects to award the contract in December.

Work on the transmission lines is set to start early 2003 and take some six months to complete.

The Chorodo substation, owned by EPM subsidiary Eade, will be upgraded to receive the power. There will not however be a tender for the upgrade, as Eade already owns the necessary equipment and will simply transfer it to Chorodo, Vasquez said.
