Los Azufres geothermal plants on schedule for 2Q03 start up

Mexico's state power company CFE will start operations at its 93MW Los Azufres and 100MW Los Azufres II geothermal power plants in Michoacan state in May and June 2003 respectively, Mexican news service Notimex reported.

Mexico has considerable geothermal potential and with the 720MW Cerro Prieto geothermal plant in Baja California state, is the world's third largest producer of geothermal power, behind the US and the Philippines.
