SII launches online tax statement

Friday, January 28, 2005

Chile's tax office SII has launched on online tax statement service, where users can obtain all information related to their tax affairs, local newspaper El Mercurio reported.

The statement includes user identification, taxpayer registration number, properties and real estate information and yearly tax declarations. The information is updated every time a user performs a transaction with the SII.

Taxpayers will have to know their identification number and password to be able to access this information, but will be able to send the statement to others. For instance, users will be able to send the information to their banks and the executive receiving the statement will be able to check whether the document has been modified.

The users themselves proposed the idea, because until now they were only able to access all this information via separate sites and now the statement gathers all the information in one place.

"We have consolidated internationally. We are being invited to international conferences and have provided consultancy services for countries such as El Salvador, Guatemala and Bolivia, who are learning from us," project head Gonzalo Torres was quoted as saying.
