Argentina's iPlan looking at regional expansion

Argentine telecoms services provider Iplan is eying a regional expansion having obtained contracts in Miami, São Paulo and Santiago de Chile, but with Colombia, Peru and Paraguay in its sights for 2018.

"We're carrying out our expansion in Latin America and the US with local partners. For 2018, we're in negotiations with four new countries. For us 2017 was good year and 2018 is looking to be even better," iPlan's president Pablo Saubidet was quoted as saying by iProfesional.

The company expanded into the domestic residential market a year ago with its iPlan Liv and in 2017 income climbed 50% to US$100mn with Ebitda of US$34mn.

The company invested 350mn pesos (US$20.2mn) in 2017 and plans to invest a further 500mn pesos in 2018.

The company has limited coverage of FTTH in Buenos Aires and plans to reach a third of Buenos Aires homes with fiber in the next 24 months, in addition to expanding to the cities of La Plata, Rosario and Córdoba.

Plans also include GPON to the home.

iPlan also offers corporate services including cloud services through partnerships with Microsoft (Azure), Google Cloud and Amazon Web Services.

The company supplies services to three digital banks that will launch services in 2018: Brubank, Wanap and Multifinanzas.
