Netflix launches in Brazil, to kick off in rest of Latin America, Caribbean by midmonth

US DVD and on-demand, online streaming video provider Netflix has launched services in Brazil and will launch in several other countries in Latin America and the Caribbean by September 12, the company said in a statement.

The company will provide instant and unlimited movies and TV shows streamed from Netflix to computers, game consoles and other internet-connected devices for a single monthly price.

In Brazil, Netflix is offering a free, one-month trial in Portuguese.

The Spanish-language version of Netflix will be available in Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay on September 7; in Chile and Bolivia on September 8; in Colombia, Venezuela, Peru and Ecuador on September 9; and in Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean on September 12.

In the Caribbean region, Netflix will be available in English and Spanish.

Founded in 1997, Netflix launched the streaming service in the US in 2007, in Canada in September 2010 and a streaming-only service in the US in November 2010.
