US mobile barcode solutions provider Scanbuy has opened a Mexico office in line with plans to grow its presence in the country and focus on international expansion during 2011, according to a press release from the company.
The company also announced that applications using its ScanLife platform are available for download on any compatible device and as a preload on handset devices through local operator Telcel.
Scanbuy recently partnered with Telcel to preinstall the applications on the operator's handset devices under the brand Codigo Ideas. According to Scanbuy, to date Telcel has installed the ScanLife applications on some 6mn devices with camera capabilities.
According to Scanbuy, the service will allow brands in Mexico to take advantage of features such as code management, analytics from number of scans to representative demographics, unique code actions to launch any mobile campaign and other customizable solutions.
Companies in Mexico - including Acura and Frito Lay's Mexican unit Sabritas - have already launched campaigns leveraging Scanlife's 2D barcodes - QR, EzCode and Datamatrix. During Acura's campaign, the company published mobile barcodes in places like GQ Magazine, Reforma Newspaper and Grupo Expansión's publications.
Along with opening the new office, Scanbuy has also named Rodrigo Rivero as the company's country manager in Mexico.
The company's ScanLife platform is currently accessed by 10,000 businesses, generating scans from 30 countries around the globe. The platform is utilized by businesses including Target, UPS, Verizon and many others in North America.
