Telcordia opens Rio unit

US clearinghouse specialist Telcordia has launched operations in Brazil with the opening of a business center in Rio de Janeiro, the company announced in a statement.

Telcordia said the new outpost will enable it to serve its clients' needs for cost-effective and timely local development.

Some of biggest telecom operators in the country as well as in Latin America, such as Oi, Telefónica Group, Telmex and Nextel Mexico, use Telcordia's mobile, broadband and enterprise software solutions, and will be supported from the new Brazil unit.

"Telcordia understands the Latin American mobile market and knows that flexibility and customer experience will drive its future success," said Fabio Araes, sales director for Telcordia, in the statement.

New Jersey-based Telcordia has more than 1bn users of its solutions worldwide.
