Peruvian telecoms watchdog Osiptel has established sanctions for mobile companies that fail to verify information in the register of prepaid subscribers by August 31, local press reported.
Failure to comply with the rules will be regarded as a serious offense.
Mobile operators must also report by October 31 to Osiptel and the interior ministry any inconsistencies found after verifying the information.
Operators that fail to do so will be sanctioned according to the procedures and provisions established under Osiptel's regulations.
