Brazil's national energy policy board has shortlisted 27 areas for the country's next oil and gas licensing round, the government said on Thursday.

An additional four fields have been earmarked for a pre-salt auction, which will offer ultra-deepwater stakes under Brazil's production-sharing regime.

The proposed areas will be studied by hydrocarbons regulator ANP ahead of separate auctions in the second half of next year, according to a mining and energy ministry statement.

Offshore acreage tentatively included in the 14th licensing round is located in the Sergipe-Alagoas, Espírito Santo, Santos and Pelotas basins. Onshore blocks are in the Parnaíba, Paraná, Potiguar, Recôncavo, Sergipe-Alagoas and Espírito Santo basins.

Fields slated for the pre-salt offering are Carcará, Gato do Mato, Sapinhoá and Tartaruga Verde.

Meanwhile the government said it established an inter-ministry working group to study new policy proposals for the oil and natural gas sector.
