Brazil exported US$4bn in IT services in 2010 and is expected to top US$5bn this year, according to the Brazilian association of IT companies, Brasscom.
The final figures exceeded expectations by 25% and represented 33% growth over 2009 exports, Brasscom president Antonio Gil told website Baguete.
"Over the next 10 years, our main objective is to turn Brazil into one of the three biggest and most important exporters of software and IT services in the world," he said. "We are working to increase export sales from US$4bn to US$20bn by 2020."
In total, the report said, the Brazilian IT market could account for US$65bn in 2011, or 3.5% of the country's GDP.
