US customer management solutions provider Amdocs (NYSE: DOX) is eyeing what the company dubs a "third technological wave," based on concepts like cloud, broadband and digital convergence, Amdocs CALA executive Nelson Wang told BNamericas during the Futurecom telecommunications conference in São Paulo.
According to the executive, the goal is to add these concepts to customized products, tailored to specific customer experience systems (CES) and companies' needs.
A paradigm of that model, according to the executive, is Connected Home, a solution the company presented during the event and whose technology is offered in the cloud. With this platform, targeting domestic users, house alarm systems can be activated, lights and TVs turned on or off, or bath water heated, for example.
According to Wang, that the service is offered in the cloud allows operators to enter this niche with a reduced investment and a chance to boost revenues.
Wang added that Amdocs expects the IT sector to stay heated due to the proximity of major events like the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympic Games, foreseeing that operators will require more solutions to prepare their infrastructure to meet demand.
