Argentine digital media company Batanga has acquired Hispanic social media platform MetroFlog and partner sites, MetroBlog and MetroPostales, the former said in a statement without reporting the purchase price.
According to Batanga, the acquisition will increase the company's audience by more than 6mn unique visitors a month.
MetroFlog.com is a social media platform that allows users to create individual spaces to upload personal photos and share them. To date, MetroFlog users have published more than 20mn photographs, uploading an additional 60,000 photos daily.
MetroFlog and its partner sites have some 17mn registered users and send more than 1mn unique emails daily, notifying users that contacts have posted a new photo or blog. Batanga will leverage those technologies and resources across its current portfolio, starting with Batanga.com.
Batanga, which serves the US Hispanic and Latin American markets, previously acquired two Latin American online media companies, Adfunky and I-Network, to increase its audience and publishing partners in the US and Latin America.
