Chilean technology provider Belltech has kicked off operations in Uruguay, the company announced in a statement.
The decision to invest in Uruguay is part of the company's plan to expand abroad in the IT integration solutions business, Belltech VP Rodney Everard said.
"We expect to close business for about US$1mn during the first year of operations," he added.
Agustín Dogliotti has been appointed head of the new office in Uruguay, where the company will offer Avaya, Nice, and BT unified communications and IT solutions for call centers.
Companies like Citi and Avon are already among Belltech's first clients in Uruguay. In addition, the company is in the final stages of negotiations with the local unit of UK banking giant HSBC (NYSE: HBC).
After it was founded in Chile in 1998, the company expanded to Peru in 2002, Argentina in 2003, Colombia in 2007 and Brazil in 2010.
With more than 700 clients in the region, Belltech saw its sales volume grow 36% in 2010 to US$41mn.
For 2011, the company expects to increase this figure by 31% to US$54mn.
