US software provider CA Technologies (NYSE: CA) has signed a strategic partnership with compatriot company Innovation Data Processing to introduce Upstream for Linux on Z and Upstream for UNIX on Z, both companies said in a joint statement.
According to the release, the new relationship will help expand CA's business offerings by providing backup, restore and disaster recovery data protection features for businesses consolidating distributed Linux systems onto IBM System z and zEnterprise mainframe systems.
"Data protection is a key area in which our customers need Linux management tools," said Dayton Semerjian, general manager of CA Technologies' mainframe customer solutions unit. "We are offering powerful storage management solutions from Innovation to help them simplify operations and fully leverage the cost saving potential of Linux."
Innovation Data Processing is a single source provider of non-disruptive business continuance, enterprise-wide distributed data protection, high performance storage resource management and privacy information protection for z/OS and Linux on System z, as well as for AIX, Linux, UNIX and Windows distributed storage. Innovation partners with CA, IBM, EMC, Hitachi, Oracle and other enterprise storage technology vendors to deliver complementary mainframes.
