US PC manufacturer Dell (Nasdaq: DELL) has signed a definitive agreement to acquire high-performance datacenter networking developer Force10 Networks, the companies said in a statement.
Each company's board of directors has already approved the transaction, the terms of which were not disclosed. The agreement remains subject to customary conditions and is expected to close late in the third quarter.
Force10's networking capabilities complement Dell's datacenter solutions portfolio, enabling it to offer customers a broader range of enterprise offerings, the statement reads.
Force10 provides high-performance solutions designed to transform network infrastructures into an open and scalable datacenter and cloud computing fabric.
Dell and Force10 had been partners for more than six years, providing datacenter customers with networking solutions.
Founded in 1999 and headquartered in San Jose, California, Force10 is a close to US$200mn company with some 80% of its business in North America. It operates in more than 60 countries worldwide, including some in Latin America.
