Experian acquires email marketing company Virid

Dublin-based information services firm Experian has acquired Brazilian SMS and email marketing solution company Virid Interactividade, the former said in a statement without disclosing the purchase price.

According to the statement, the acquisition is part of Experian's strategy to expand the geographic reach of its email marketing business into Brazil, where Virid will become part of Experian's Marketing Services business in Latin America.

Experian is a permission-based email marketer that provides services in all of the top 10 advertising markets in the world, including the US, the UK, Germany, France, China and now Brazil.

Founded in 1996, Virid is Brazil's largest email marketing service provider, offering email delivery, email-based behavioral segmentation, real-time campaign reporting, mobile delivery and social media integration. The company has more than 800 direct and 3,000 indirect clients, including retailers, advertising agencies and news organizations.

In 2010, Virid had revenues of 9mn reais (US$5mn).
