Govt distributes more than 1.2mn laptops under digital inclusion plan

Argentina has distributed more than 1.21mn laptops under digital inclusion program Conectar Igualdad, the government said in a statement.

With this figure, the government has completed 65% of the program's second phase after finishing the first part in March, according to the statement.

The program's last phase will take place during 2012, with the end goal of providing a total 3mn laptops to high school students.

By the end of this year, 90% of Conectar Igualdad is slated to be finished, according to previous press reports.

A tender for 1.5mn laptops was announced in July under the program, with half of those units to be assembled in Argentina.
