Nearly half of local companies gain new clients through social networks

About 49% of Chilean companies have increased their client base through social networks, compared to 43% from last year, according to a survey by international workplace solutions provider Regus.

On a global scale, 7% more companies gained new clients this year through social networks such as Facebook.

There is an increasing trend of using interactive media to gain new clients in the country, such as social networks, blogs, microblogs and forums.

The survey also found growing use of these tools in Chile and globally for fidelization programs, at a respective 54% and 52% of all companies.

In this scenario, 39% of companies worldwide and 26% in Chile earmark 20% of their marketing budget to business activities conducted through social networks.

But there is a general consensus that marketing campaigns must be a mixture of traditional and digital techniques.

The findings of Regus' survey are based on responses from more than 17,000 company executives and business owners in 80 countries.
