Latin America is a risk-taking region that adopts technology and develops more entrepreneurial initiatives, Hicham Abdessamad, Japanese storage services and hardware provider Hitachi Data Systems' (HDS) global services senior VP, told BNamericas.
The region has the same types of concerns in terms of technology adoption as developed regions such as North America or Europe, the executive said, adding that Latin America is "talking the same language" as mature markets in terms of cloud adoption and the "issues" regarding migration.
"I don't see a huge difference between Latin America and the rest of the world in terms of adapting to technology or trying new things," Abdessamad said.
The region is also turning more toward entrepreneurial initiatives, "which shows that Latin America is more of a risk taker, something I was surprised to see," he noted.
Globally, the trend is to move from a more traditional infrastructure to virtualization and the cloud, with different consumption models, presenting a "huge opportunity" for HDS to grow, said Abdessamad. He added that the company's value offer is in the concept of a single platform for all verticals.
