Brazilian IT services provider Exceda has opened an office in Rio de Janeiro state to expand its operations and consolidate growth in the country, the company said in a statement.

With this new unit, the company expects to reach 40 clients in the state by end-2012.

In addition to the new office and Exceda's headquarters in São Paulo, the company has an office in capital Brasília.

Exceda was founded in 2002 and counts among its customers Embraer, Carrefour and AmBev. It is the exclusive partner in Brazil of US content delivery service provider Akamai (Nasdaq: AKAM).


Brazilian utility group Cemig (NYSE: CIG) has recognized US green IT company Midas Medici's Cimcorp brand with the Cemig Supplier Award, the companies said in a joint statement.

The Cemig Supplier Award is presented to the company's suppliers with the best annual performance.

Cimcorp, acquired earlier this month by Midas Medici, provides Cemig with projects for data center storage, virtualization and user support, and manages the IT related aspects of Cemig's technology park, including 10,000 desktops and more than 2,000 laptops.


Brazilian price comparison site BuscaPé has received the e-commerce award for the most innovative company of the year in e-commerce and online business in Colombia, the company said in a statement.

The award, presented by Latin American e-commerce institute ILCE, recognizes companies and individuals for their work on digital economy and online business in the region.

BuscaPé provides online shopping solutions to more than 100 websites in Latin America. The websites market more than 10mn products in 320,000 online and offline stores.


Spanish IT consultancy firm Crystalis Consulting has launched its solution Seidor Química for the chemical sector to integrate financial and logistics functions on SAP Business All-in-one, the company said in a statement.

The solution aims to deal with problems such as lack of integration in point of sale management and lack of accuracy in manually managed data.

Seidor Química includes the following SAP modules: finance, sales and distribution, materials and procurement management, control, production, and quality.
