Roundup: HDS, GlobalLogic, Red Hat, Veryant

Japanese storage services and hardware provider Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) has tapped Miguel Carminate to direct its Latin America North division, HDS said in a release.

Prior to joining HDS, Carminate worked for 11 years in Sun Microsystems, most recently serving as regional sales director.

The executive has a degree in electrical engineering, as well as an MBA and graduate studies in systems analysis.

The Argentine division of US software developer GlobalLogic has named Guillermo Daud as human resources director, the company said in a statement.

Daud's professional experience includes stints at MP Ediciones and ADRHA.

The executive holds a degree in administration from Universidad de Buenos Aires, as well as an MBA from Universidad del CEMA.

The Latin American division of US Linux operating systems provider Red Hat (NYSE: RHT) generated 85% of sales through partners during its last fiscal year, ended in February, the company said in a release.

Partner companies also signed up 95% of new clients in Latin America during fiscal 2011, according to regional channels, sales and operations director Julián Somodi.

Brazilian software provider Rech Informática has acquired a solution from US COBOL technology provider Veryant, the latter company said in a release.

Rech Informática implemented the isCOBOL Evolve software to modernize its COBOL-based ERP applications.
