Silver Peak opens new branch

California-based IT firm Silver Peak Systems has opened a new branch in Mexico and has appointed Vicente Amozurrutia as general manager for the country, the company said in a statement.

Amozurrutia was previously area manager of the northern division of Latin America for Check Point Software Technologies.

Earlier this year, Silver Peak started working with Brazilian telecoms operator Junto Telecom to improve the latter's data transmission between São Paulo and its home state of Pará.

Using Silver Peak's networking solutions, Junto Telecom was able to double traffic throughput on its backbone link, 5,000km away in São Paulo.
