Ecuador's software industry is closing 2011 with US$30mn in exports and US$250mn in total sales, state-run news agency Andes reported, citing software association Aesoft.

In addition, the industry provides 8,000 jobs distributed among 480 companies, Aesoft president Antonio Sánchez said.

Software companies in Ecuador are mainly small and medium-sized firms, he added, for which quality certifications are necessary to generate trust in the sector.
