Chilean IT systems integrator Sonda has filed an EIA for a new data center being built in capital Santiago with a US$14.5mn investment, according to a company filing.
The construction of the center started in May and it is expected to be up and running by the second quarter of 2012.
In addition, the data center has received Tier III certification by the Uptime Institute, which indicates the center has 99.9% availability with sufficient capacity to perform maintenance tasks while providing services without interruptions in the operation, among other capabilities.
In November 2010, the company invested US$8.1mn in a data center located in São Paulo state, Brazil, which has also received a Tier III certification.
