Monday, April 25, 2011

The South America division of UK systems integrator Logica (LSE: LOG; Euronext: LOG) is currently focusing on its Brazilian operation, regional CEO Edson Leite told BNamericas.

"We have projects implemented in other countries across South America, but the focus of our operation is on Brazil, due to the upswing the country is currently experiencing," Leite said.

The company serves its South American clients through the company's offices in Brazil.

Logica is seeing increasing business opportunities in several verticals, including energy, utilities, financing, manufacturing, transport and telecommunications. Leite foresees future demand in Brazil for mobility, cloud computing and BPO solutions.

For 2011, Logica expects its business to grow above the market average in a sustained way, Leite said without providing hard figures. "To achieve this, we have restructured our operation this year, and defined markets, products, and differentiated strategies to gain new clients and maintain our existing ones," he said. "South America, and mainly Brazil, is one of the main growth areas for the company."

The company, which works with global partners such as SAP (NYSE: SAP), Oracle (Nasdaq: ORCL) and Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT), employs 39,000 workers across 36 countries.
