Brazilian IT services firm Tivit has inaugurated a 35mn-real (US$20.9mn) business process outsourcing (BPO) and systems applications center in the port city of Santos, in São Paulo state, the company said in a statement.
Tivit ultimately intends to staff the new Santos unit with 4,500 employees, and already has more than 2,000 on site to attend to existing Tivit clients as well as new customers.
Tivit selected Santos for the city's pool of skilled labor, accessibility, proximity to universities, public investment and economic growth. The unit is Tivit's 18th, after the company opened a software factory in Curitiba last year.
Dethalas Empreendimentos e Participações, majority stockholder in Tivit, recently delisted Tivit from the Brazilian stock market Bovespa after paying out 721mn reais for shares Dethalas did not already control.
