Westcon to distribute Brocade technology in Latin America

Friday, July 29, 2011

US value-added IT distributor Westcon Group's Latin American division will start distributing the portfolio of IP/ethernet provider Brocade (Nasdaq: BRCD) in Latin America and the Caribbean, the company said in a statement.

Westcon is one of the first global distributors to specialize in Brocade's IP/ethernet products, offering the portfolio to resellers. It is the first in Latin America to offer the portfolio in Brazil. The portfolio also includes a range of converged network solutions for data centers, local area networks, corporate networks and service provider environments.

Westcon will provide technical training and pre and post-sales support to develop skills and business opportunities for its channel partners.

Brocade's Mexican, Central American and Caribbean division expects to shift a larger percentage of its overall sales toward service providers this year, the division's sales manager, Moisés Montaño, previously told BNamericas.

Westcon opened a new office in Florida at the beginning of the year to expand business in the Americas sixfold outside of Brazil and Mexico - two markets that account for nearly 95% of the company's regional revenues.
