Canadian call center company Wikibuli Communications has been granted a concession to start operations in Dominica, the island nation's government announced.
According to the release, the company has invested around 1.2mn East Caribbean dollars (US$444,000) in a new facility and will employ more than 150 Dominicans to work at its multilingual call center, providing services to the US, Canada and other countries.
ICT minister Kelver Darroux said the government will make sure that the call center has a "smooth transition" process to get established in the area.
"We have made a commitment to the company to provide whatever is necessary [to] create as much employment for the locals as possible," said Darroux.
