Bolivian telecom cooperatives Cotes and Cotap plan to develop a fiber optic interconnection project between the cities of Posotí and Sucre this year, local newspaper Correo del Sur reported.
There are three commissions working on the first studies for the expansion plan, which is expected to lead to price cuts for calls between both cities.
"Studies will determine technical and economical feasibility for the project and during February we will be able to determine a date to start with the implementation," Cotes president Gonzalo Pórcel was quoted as saying.
In other news, Cotes opened a management center for its IT, telephony and cable TV networks with a total investment of US$123,000.
