Brazilian firm Engevix has won a tender to carry out studies for a project to build the Embalse la Montería dam in Peru's Chancay-Lambayeque valley.
The studies are priced at 850,000 soles (US$314,100), the Lambayeque regional government said in a release.
The company will have five months to develop an alternate channel to control excess water on the Chancay river, as well as designs, meters and the project's budget. Work also involves carrying out environmental and social impact studies.
The dam will have capacity to store 50Mm3 and will cost an estimated US$70mn.
The project is being developed as part of the Olmos multipurpose hydro project as a way to improve water management in the Chancay-Lambayeque valley.
