The Dominican Republic's President Leonel Fernández has inaugurated two potable water pipelines worth 387mn pesos (US$10.2mn) in Santiago Rodríguez and Montecristi provinces, the presidential website reported.
A 184mn-peso pipeline, built by state water utility Inapa, was opened in Santiago Rodríguez, while the 203mn-peso Línea Noroeste pipeline extension, connecting an additional 15 communities to the potable water system, was opened in Montecristi.
The pipelines will benefit some 49,467 people in the two provinces.
The initiatives bring investment in water and sanitation projects under Fernández's government so far this year to 1.15bn pesos.
