Bolivia's national fund for social and productive investment (FPS) has carried out 381 irrigation projects in seven departments this year, according to FPS director Vladimir Sánchez.
The projects cover some 16,200ha of land and will benefit around 33,700 families, news agency ABI reported.
Irrigation projects carried out under the government's MiAgua water program will generate average earnings of US$400/ha of productive land, according to a study carried out by German technical cooperation agency GTZ.
In 2011, the MiAgua program has financed 621 water infrastructure projects throughout the country.
