Lack of infrastructure one of main obstacles to development, says minister

Peru's lack of infrastructure is one of the country's main bottlenecks to development, according to economy and finance (MEF) minister Ismael Benavides.

"The [national government] should put much more emphasis on public-private partnerships [PPPs] so that the private sector can manage investment in big infrastructure," state news agency Andina quoted Benavides as saying.

Other setbacks include education and innovation, the minister added.
