ProInversión head resigns

Tuesday, November 29, 2011

The head of Peru's private investment promotion agency ProInversión, Jorge León, has resigned, state news agency Andina reported.

The official's decision was reportedly influenced by a lack of support from government offices such as the transport and communications ministry (MTC) and the energy and mines ministry.

ProInversión is currently preparing a second package of concessions valued at some US$1bn in sectors including transport, sanitation, energy and communications, among others.

The package includes 10 projects which will be carried out via public-private partnerships (PPPs) and should be ready to tender in July next year, according to the report.
