Regulator fines utilities US$9mn in 2010

Colombia's public services regulator Superservicios issued 2,148 fines last year totaling 17.4bn pesos (US$9.23mn) to power, gas, water, sewerage and waste companies.

Water and sewerage utilities topped the list with 463 fines (7.79bn pesos) for poor water quality, among other infractions, followed by power and gas with 113 fines (7.11bn pesos) for non-compliance of quality indicators.
