Early in 2011, the Chapada open pit gold-copper mine plan was updated to maintain an increased throughput level with the integration of output from the Suruca gold deposit. Suruca is expected to start contributing to production in 2013. Suruca is located 6km northeast of Chapada and was discovered in 2009.
