Petrobras has 15 refining, logistics, and gas projects to be contracted

Brazil's Petrobras has seven refining, gas and power projects scheduled to start operating in 2029 and 2030, and eight set to begin in 2031 or later that still need to be contracted.

The information is contained in a presentation recently given by the state-owned company at the headquarters of the Rio de Janeiro State Federation of Industries (Firjan), attended by BNamericas.

The projects are as follows:

– Boaventura Refining, at the Boaventura Energy Complex, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, with operations scheduled to begin in 2029;

– Revamp of the coking unit, blower of the Paulínia Refinery (Replan), in the state of São Paulo (2029);

– Revamp of the thermoelectric plant, flare of the Duque de Caxias Refinery (Reduc), in Rio de Janeiro (2029);

– Fluid Catalytic Cracking Unit (machinery) of the Presidente Bernardes Refinery (RPBC), in São Paulo (2029);

– Coking units at the Gabriel Passos Refinery (Regap), in Minas Gerais (2029);

– Sustainable aviation fuel and renewable diesel units at RPBC (2030);

– Thermoelectric power plant in Boaventura (2030);

– Pier and dredging at the Santos Terminal, in São Paulo (2031+);

– Construction of the Barueri–Pilões oil pipeline (Obapi), for dark products, in São Paulo (2031+);

– New pipeline for light products in the Central-West region (2031+);

– Gas pipeline of the Sergipe–Deep Waters (SEAP) project, in the Sergipe-Alagoas basin (2031+);

– Biorefining at the Boaventura Energy Complex (2031+);

– Hydrotreating Unit (HDS) and biorefining at Replan (2031+);

– Hydrotreating Unit (HDT) at the Presidente Getúlio Vargas Refinery (Repar), in Paraná (2031+);

– HDT at the Alberto Pasqualini Refinery (Refap), in Rio Grande do Sul (2031+);

The current Petrobras business plan projects investments on the order of US$20 billion in the refining, transportation, and marketing (RTC) areas and US$9 billion in gas and low-carbon energies.

The same Petrobras presentation identifies five projects already contracted and in the execution phase:

– Santos Terminal (Intramuros), planned for 2026;

– Second refining train of the Abreu e Lima Refinery (RNEST), in Pernambuco (partial delivery in 2027 and full in 2029);

– Combustion Boiler at the Capuava Refinery (Recap), in São Paulo (2028);

– Gas pipeline for the Raia project, in the Campos basin (2028);

– Fertilizer Plant (UFN) 3, in Mato Grosso do Sul (2029).
