DIRECTV Latin America is a limited liability company, and a wholly-owned subsidiary of DIRECTV, which is controlled by AT&T, and provides satellite video services for primarily residential costumers, serving 19 million people in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, Venezuela and the Caribbean. The company has 12.7 million video connections in Latin America, including 5.4 in Brazil. AT&T took over DIRECTV in 2015. In Brazil, DIRECTV Latin America has 93% ownership of Sky Brasil, with over 5 million clients, with Globo Comunicações e Participações, S.A. holding the balance. In Mexico, DirecTV Latin America has a 41% stake in Sky México with more than 6 million clients. Here, Grupo Televisa, S.A. holds the majority stake. The company was founded in 1990 and is based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
