Description:
Empresas Públicas de Medellin E.S.P. (EPM), owned by the Municipality of Medellín, supplies water and sanitation, electricity and gas to 123 municipalities in the Colombian department of Antioquia. It is developing the 2,400MW Ituango hidroelectric project in the department of Antioquia, pending the receipt of environmental licenses in 2017. In 2016, it inaugurated the Quibdó aqueduct to expand the municipality's drinking water coverage from 28% to 82%. In 2015, it bought the Chilean company Aguas Antofagasta that provides potable water to residential and commercial customers in northern Chile. EPM was founded in 1955 and is based in Medellin.
