Description:
Energisa is a Brazilian electricity holding company that controls 13 electricity distribution companies in the Brazilian states of Paraíba, Sergipe, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Tocantins, Paraná and São Paulo. The company covers 788 municipalities in a concession area of 1.63 million km2, supplying electricity to more than 6 million consumers and a population of close to 16 million people. In April 2014, Energisa assumed control of the eight Rede Energia distributors that had operated under Aneel's control since September 2012 (CFLO, Bragantina, Nacional, Vale do Paranapanema, Caiuá, Enersul, Cemat and Celtins). The company is also participating in the development of 21 generation projects that will produce 638MW in total. The group is based in Cataguases in Minas Gerais state.
