Maersk Olie Og Gas AS (Maersk Oil), part of A.P. Moller-Maersk Group's energy division, is an international oil and gas operating company engaged in exploration, development, production and trading activities in Denmark, Qatar, UK, Kazakhstan, the US Gulf of Mexico and Algeria. The company has an operated production of more than 500,000boe/d and holds oil concession rights in Angola, USA, UK, Norway, Brazil and Kurdistan. In Latin America, it participates in exploration activities in Brazil. Maersk Oil entered the Brazilian market in 2001 and it has two projects in appraisal phase: Itaipu (BM-C-32), with a 20% non-operated interest, and Wahoo (BM-C-30), with 27% non-operated interest, both located in the Campos basin. Maersk is currently considering selling off its Brazilian assets and is revising its strategy with the aims of focusing on projects in the North Sea. The company was incorporated in 1962 and is headquartered in Copenhagen.
