Electro Metalúrgica S.A. (Elecmetal), a Chilean firm established in Santiago in 1917 as part of the Claro Group, is mainly engaged in metallurgy and electric power generation. It operates through ME Elecmetal and ME Long Teng Grinding Media (Changshu) Co. Ltd., a joint venture in China. ME Elecmetal is responsible for providing solutions for mineral processing worldwide. In Chile, Elecmetal operates Fundición Talleres plants in Rancagua and Esco-Elecmetal Foundry in Colina, besides its plants in the US and China. Within the energy sector, the company inaugurated Las Peñas wind farm (ELP) in 2016, located in the commune of Arauco, VIII region. The park has four wind turbines that are injected into the National Electric System (SEN).
