Since 2004, Statkraft Chile Inversiones Eléctricas Ltda. has being operating as an electric power generation and transmission company in Santiago. Currently, it builds and develops renewable energy projects through joint venture companies, like the one it has with Australian company Pacific Hydro to operate La Confluencia and La Higuera hydro power plants. The firm is a wholly owned unit of Statkraft Holding Chile Pte. Ltd, which in turn is a subsidiary of Norwegian multinational Statkraft A.S. Statkraft Chile Inversiones Eléctricas has a 100% stake in Statkraft Chile Tinguiririca SCC and a controlling stake in Empresa Eléctrica S.A. Pilmaiquén, which in turn operates three hydroelectric power plants and one transmission line in the South American country.
