4 Brazil offshore production units coming online in 2023

At least four new offshore production units are expected to start operating in Brazil this year, adding oil and gas output capacity of 480,000b/d and 29Mm3/d (million cubic meters a day), respectively.
The units are due to be installed in fields operated by state oil company Petrobras in the Campos and Santos basins, off the country’s southeast coast.
FPSO | Owner | Charterer | Oil output capacity (b/d) | Gas output capacity (m3/d) |
Anna Nery | Yinson | Petrobras | 70,000 | 4,000,000 |
Almirante Barroso | Modec | Petrobras | 150,000 | 6,000,000 |
Anita Garibaldi | Modec | Petrobras | 80,000 | 7,000,000 |
Sepetiba | SBM Offshore | Petrobras | 180,000 | 12,000,000 |

The Anna Nery and Anita Garibaldi FPSOs are scheduled to begin producing in the Marlim 1 and 2 fields, respectively.
The units are part of the Marlim revitalization project, which involves the replacement of the nine platforms currently operating in the Marlim and Voador fields: P-18, P-19, P-20, P-26, P-32, P-33, P-35, P-37 and P-47.
Anna Nery left the Brasfels shipyard, in Angra dos Reis in Rio de Janeiro state, in November and is set to start operations this quarter.
The Almirante Barroso FPSO will be the fifth installed in the Búzios field, in the Santos basin pre-salt, while Sepetiba will be Mero’s second definitive production system after the Guanabara FPSO.
Petrobras' 2023-27 plan originally scheduled the P-71 FPSO to begin operations in 2023, but it started producing in December.
Meanwhile, Australia’s Karoon plans to put its Patola field online this quarter by connecting the asset to the Cidade de Itajaí FPSO, which currently operates in the neighboring Baúna field.
Next year new FPSOs ordered by Petrobras – Marechal Duque de Caxias, Almirante Tamandaré and Maria Quitéria – are programmed to come online, in addition to OSX-2 FPSO, chartered by Enauta to develop its Atlanta field.
