The Dominican Republic government will invest US$120mn in the construction of 10 substations and other power infrastructure works through state power company CDE, CDE administrator Cesar Sanchez said. With these new substations, CDE hopes to solve supply problems in municipalities in the Cibao Central, el Norte and Linea Noroeste areas of the country. Also, connecting these installations to the national grid will provide power services to historically isolated communities in geographically remote areas of the country, Sanchez said, local daily Hoy reported.
