Globecomm Wins Earth Station Contract

United States-based satellite operator Globecomm Systems (NASDAQ: GCOM) has won a contract to provide additional satellite earth station equipment for a leading Brazilian operator, Globecomm announced yesterday. This upgrade will allow customers to expand video programming distribution services. The contract is one of five awarded for the design, installation and integration of satellite earth station infrastructure in the US, Bosnia, Israel, Kenya and Brazil. The five contracts have an aggregate value of some US$2.3mn. "We have both the facilities and the technical capabilities to provide our customers with one stop shopping for all of their satellite-based telecommunications needs, including equipment, services and on-going operations, anywhere in the world.'' Globecomm Chairman and CEO David Hershberg said in a statement. Globecomm Systems provides end-to-end, value-added satellite-based communications services, and satellite ground segment systems and networks, which support a wide range of satellite communications applications.
