Govt. signs agreement with Tecsol to provide solar energy

The Dominican Republic's industry and commerce ministry has signed an agreement with local company Tecnicas Energeticas Solares (Tecsol) to use solar power to provide electricity to 2,000 rural homes in 14 provinces, the government news agency reported. Investment in the project is 46mn pesos (US$1.22mn). The provinces that will benefit are: El Seibo, Jimani, La Vega, Valverde, Santiago Rodriguez, Dajabon, Azua, Espaillat, Sanchez Ramirez, San Juan de la Maguana, Bahoruco, San Cristobal and Monte Cristi.
