IAEA, power minister discuss nuclear possibilities

Ecuador's deputy power minister Alecksey Mosquera has met with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) representative Raúl Ramírez about implementing nuclear technologies in the South American country, Ecuador's presidential website reported. Ecuador aims to join IAEA, which will invest roughly US$866,000 this year to help the country by way of technological assistance, transfers and training programs. Ecuador, which does not have nuclear reactors, is keen on researching nuclear possibilities in the country, although it has not yet committed to studying nuclear generation.
