NWC could implement rationing to cope with drought

Bnamericas
Customers of Jamaica's National Water Commission ( NWC) could be affected by nightly water restrictions because of supply shortages associated with ongoing drought conditions, paper Jamaica Gleaner reported. NWC said that as of February 9, customers served by the Constant Spring and Havendale systems in St Andrew parish would experience restrictions between 9pm and 3am. Meanwhile, customers in Mt Salus, St Andrew will receive their supply on alternate days. The utility also said it would continue to monitor the present drought situation and would make adjustments as the situation warranted. "Customers are encouraged to store water for the periods of disruption and also to conserve water to avoid the need for further modifications to the water restriction measures," an NWC representative was quoted as saying.
